Cherokee Lake

Cherokee reservoir was named for the tribe of Native Americans who once lived in the area.  The lake covers 30,300 acres and has over 400 miles of shoreline. The lake is located in East Tennessee, west of Route 81.  Map of Cherokee Lake

Fishing is popular in Cherokee Lake, with black bass, sauger, walleye, and crappie being the most sought after species.

Towns in the Cherokee Lake area include Rutledge, Bean Station, Morristown, and Jefferson City. Some lakefront communities and developments include Chelaque Estates, a gated community on Cherokee Lake; Shiloh Springs, located in northeast TN, about an hour from Knoxville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg; Turner's Landing, a community near Morristown with lakefront and lake access properties; and Windswept on Cherokee Lake, a gated community located on a peninsula of land at Cherokee Lake.
